Mount Titlis – rotate your way up the mountain and walk the highest suspension bridge of the Alps
Thanks a combination of a gondola in 3 sections and a rotating cableway, the only of its kind in Switzerland and also the world’s first rotating cable car.
By train Engelberg is reached comfortably in less than 45 minutes. Then a short walk leads to the valley station. The 8-seater Titlis Xpress cable car will transport you all the way up from Engelberg to Stand station. You can hop on or off at the Trübsee middle station. The Titlis Rotair cable car will then take you on the final leg of the ascent from Stand to the summit station at 3,020 m. The cable car revolves 360 degrees during the five-minute trip, treating you to idyllic panoramic views of steep rock faces, deep crevasses and distant snow-covered mountain peaks. The journey from Engelberg to Titlis mountain station takes around 45 minutes.
At the summit station there is a choice of sights. A glacier cave, the Ice Flyer chair lift and the highest suspension bridge in Europe. But most people will enjoy the year round snow on the glacier. Yes, snowballs will fly here now and then…
3,041 metres above sea level. 500 metres off the ground. 150 heart-pounding steps. This is what awaits you on the Titlis cliff walk, the spectacular suspension bridge high up on the summit. To cross the bridge, you’ll need nerves as strong as the steel cables from which it hangs.
And of course the main attraction, the beautiful panorama that stretches all the way to the Valaisan Alps.
The illuminated glacier cave is bathed in a dim turquoise-blue light. The air is so cold that tiny white clouds appear when you breathe. A magical world of ice awaits! This glacier cave forms the frosty heart of Titlis. The ice here is up to 5,000 years old. The cave’s 150-metre-long walkway descends ten metres below the surface of the glacier. Exploring the glacier cave is a cool experience. The temperature inside the cave remains a frosty -1.5˚ C.
Restaurant on Mt. Titlis with panoramic views of the glacier at 3,020 m. As well at the stations Stand and Truebsee you will find lovely authentic restaurants.
At the Trubsee station, there are many attractions for thrill-seekers and for those who want to just relax can hike around the alpine lake.
Included is some time at the restaurant for drinks or a meal and a stopover at the midway station Trubsee.
